Not a lot of people are familiar with the application of blockchain beyond the financial world. In actuality, due to the efficiency and capacity of the blockchain technology in recording data and information, it has great potentials to be applied in document management use cases.
Currently, blockchain has been used to handle specific aspects of document management, such as citizen documents and certificates, supply chain traceability, as well as logistics and trading. Certain public institutions, such as the Estonian government, as well as the home affairs ministries of the United States and Brazil, have applied the blockchain technology to manage citizens’ ID and land certificates.
Meanwhile, in the realm of private companies, American and French retailers WalMart and Carrefour, respectively, have also adopted blockchain technology to boost the efficiency and traceability of their supply chain systems.
In this podcast episode, Blockchain Zoo CEO Roberto Capodieci briefs us on the most current blockchain document management use cases, including in the European Union, where several universities and companies have adopted it to store and validate the digital format of students’ diploma, which can make the process of job hiring or postgraduate degree enrolment more efficient. He will also talk about the strengths of blockchain technology as a document management tool, its differences from the centralized platforms as well as security concerns and future enhancements.
